Shaun Reel is a seasoned corporate governance, shareholder activism, and proxy contest advisor with more than 30 years of experience counseling corporate boards, management teams, hedge funds, and institutional investors on shareholder activism, proxy fights, high-stakes proxy matters, and strategic shareholder communications. A recognized specialist in proxy fights and shareholder activism, his experience spans proxy solicitations, contested M&A transactions, takeover defense situations, SPACs, shareholder intelligence, and institutional investor engagement, positioning him as a trusted advisor during critical corporate events.

Prior to joining Laurel Hill, Shaun held a senior leadership role at a leading proxy solicitation firm, where he advised clients on annual and special meetings, proxy contests, activism defense, and complex M&A transactions. He is recognized for his ability to interpret investor sentiment, anticipate proxy advisory firm perspectives, and develop targeted shareholder outreach strategies that resonate with both institutional and retail investors.

Shaun's expertise includes shareholder intelligence, ownership surveillance, vote modeling and forecasting, shareholder identification, messaging strategy, institutional investor engagement, and real-time solicitation campaigns designed to influence voting outcomes and strengthen long-term shareholder relationships. Throughout his career, Shaun has cultivated longstanding relationships with many of the world's largest institutional investors, including BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street Global Advisors. He has also worked on campaigns involving prominent activist investors such as Starboard Value, Trian Partners, and Elliott Management.
