Activists are becoming increasingly emboldened; witness the recent push to remove CEO’s. As reported in The Wall Street Journal, Activists are becoming a threat to CEO’s.
Not satisfied with board seats, to effect change the Activists want a new CEO to accelerate what they believe needs to be done.
Thus far, this year they have managed to effect a CEO change at AIG, CSX, and Aronic(a split-off) from Alcoa.
It may be that the obvious CEO targets have been dealt with and the next push is a change in Operations – some will argue that, the Activists, have not done so well in that area – witness Sears and J.C. Penney among others.
After the CEO – What is next?
